David Gathercole - NSW EPA
David Gathercole's presentation will cover information about the following:
- NSW EPA PFAS Investigation Program
- PFAS National Environmental Management Plan
- NSW EPA PFAS guidance under development
- Biota sampling case study
David Gathercole is Manager Strategic Regulation and leads the NSW EPA’s PFAS Investigation Program. He has extensive experience across the NSW EPA as well as local government, and qualifications in environmental management and law. David will be supported by staff of the Office of Environment and Heritage Science Division to address any technical questions related to PFAS that members may have following the presentation.
David Springer - Envirolab
David Springer’s presentation will cover an in-house blood PFAS study conducted by Envirolab, with a comparison of results to published data. Trends in data will be explored, factoring in age, sex, diet and employment background. David will also cover sampling techniques and potential sources of PFAS.
As General Manager of the Envirolab Group, David Springer has been in the lab game for 26 years. Passionate about this industry, he always tries to educate staff and clients, because a lab's data is only as good as your sample.
Pearce Anderson - Insite Remediation Services
Pearce Anderson will be sharing with us some of his knowledge on PFAS treatment, ways of mitigating the risk of PFAS migration and some interesting anecdotes from Insite’s R&D experience with these challenging, un-natural chemical compounds in the environment.
Pearce is a chemical engineer with a Master’s degree in business and technology. He has over 20 years’ experience in water treatment, and over the past 10 years he has been fortunate enough to be engaged in several innovative and challenging environmental remediation projects; working for clients such as Orica, Lend Lease, Department of Defence and on legacy gasworks sites. Pearce’s role at InSite is focussed on innovation and design of practical water treatment systems, and particularly the technical development and implementation of PFAS treatment systems. This has led to his growing interest in both soil and water PFAS treatment.
