Voluntary Management Proposals for the management of significantly contaminated land - Lesley Corkill and Arminda Ryan, EPA.
Lesley’s talk will cover the following topics:
•When and how to put forward a proposal to the EPA
•What needs to be included in a proposal (including phased proposals)
•Stakeholder engagement and communication expectations
•Use of certified consultants and auditors
•EPA process for review and approval of proposals
•Cost recovery provisions
•What happens if the terms of a proposal are not met
After this, Arminda will give a brief overview of the proposed changes to two guidelines that will be in the consultation period and how submissions can be made on these.
Lesley is currently Unit Head Compliance Programs - Contaminated Land Management Section. Prior to this she was Unit Head Waste Compliance Section, regulating the waste industry. She has also worked in the EPA’s Metro Region focusing on regulation of other public authorities and as a policy officer in the Noise Policy Section. Her previous employment history includes Environmental Manager at Railcorp and she has also worked in various roles at various Sydney metropolitan Councils doing environmental audits, pollution investigations and development assessments.
Arminda is the EPA Director of Contaminated Land Management and has been working in contaminated land for over 20 years in consulting, regulation and policy.
