2nd March 2023 Module 1: Phase 1 Introduction to Environmental Site Assessments

CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (CPD) MODULES FOR CONTAMINATED LAND CONSULTANTS.

One of the core values and aims of ACLCA is to provide relevant, topical and up-to-date training and professional development to its members, so that individuals within member companies can and will maintain and improve the technical and professional standards and skills of member companies.

ACLCA Qld will be been running foundation training in 2023 on Environmental Site Assessment geared towards graduates and new entries into the industry. ACLCA is confident that the training covers all major aspects of the contaminated land practice at a level of detail suitable for practitioners new to the field. CPD module workshops will be run as a combination of webinar (when possible) and face to face workshops during 2023.

Module 1: Phase 1 Introduction to Environmental Site Assessments

Who should attend:

This module will target recent graduates and professionals new to the contaminated land industry.

Objective:

The objective of this module is to provide an updated and overall introduction to the key elements of Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), What is a Phase 1 Assessment? Why are Phase 1 assessments so important? How a good Phase 1 sets up a good Phase 2. How can a Conceptual Site Model add value to your understanding of a site?

At the end of the session your staff should:

Gain an understanding of the importance of a desktop study, the range of information available and review methods, and how to apply this to develop an understanding of site history, potential contamination sources and presence of contamination at a site. We will also touch on the preparation of Conceptual Site Models and how they assist the understanding of environmental risks at a site.

The session will include ‘working in small groups’ practical exercises and direct examples.
