6th May 2021 interim Bi-Monthly Networking Meeting

ACLCA Qld will be holding an interim Bi-Monthly Networking Meeting Thursday 6th May 2021. 

The Bi-Monthly Networking Meetings provide an opportunity for presentations workshops and forums on varied topics of interest or currency of legislation within the Contaminated Land Industry. This is a social evening, with a chance for consultants to network…..finally!!

1.      Presentation: Recently published PFAS ambient monitoring program.

Presenter Dr Suzanne Vardy, Principal Scientist, Water Quality and Investigations DES

2.      Presentation 2: Topic- Heavy Metals in Soil

Presenters Dr Anna Sheldon and Mark Stuckey. Environmental Earth Sciences

Anna will discuss sources and mechanisms of toxicity of the ‘standard 8’ heavy metals in the environment, including how soil properties influence toxicity and bioavailability.

Mark will discuss how we can use the site assessment process to assess risk associated with the presence of heavy metals, and develop site specific investigation criteria.

Anna is a soil scientist with 17 years experience in research and consulting.  Anna’s research background is in heavy metal toxicity and salinity in soils, and has a PhD in soil science from The University of Queensland.  She has worked for Environmental Earth Sciences for over 10 years, and is over PFAS.

Mark Stuckey is a soil scientist, hydrogeologist and risk assessor with over 25 years experience.  He is an accredited contaminated land auditor in NSW, VIC, QLD and NT, and specialises in human health and ecological risk assessment, groundwater solute transport modelling, and acid sulfate soil occurrence.
