TOPIC: Open UCL - Tim Chambers, Phreatic Consulting

Open UCL is a free online tool developed to provide a concise statistical summary of analytical data sets for contaminated land assessment and remediation projects. However, Open UCL may be used for any data set. Open UCL is an open-source web-based application using R and Shiny to enable platform-independent access. It has the advantage of not requiring a particular operating system, hardware, or other software. All you need is internet access, a browser and a spreadsheet.

Tim is a hydrogeologist with over 20 years of experience in environmental consulting. He is accredited by NSW EPA as a Contaminated Site Auditor (NSW EPA accreditation number 1004) and by EPA VIC as an Environmental Auditor – Contaminated land. As a consultant, his work has had a focus on groundwater modelling, contaminant hydrogeology and risk assessment. Tim has tertiary qualifications in hydrogeology, geology and computer science. Tim’s consulting experience encompasses the design and review of in-situ remediation systems for groundwater and soil vapour (including design and interpretation of associated pilot testing) and the modelling of both contaminant fate and transport and potential risk. He is also experienced in the design and installation of soil, soil vapour and groundwater monitoring programmes, environmental assessment of soil, soil vapour and groundwater, preparation and implementation of remedial action plans (RAPs) for a wide range of contaminants, and liaison with regulatory authorities and sub-consultants. He is experienced with the behaviour of a wide range of contaminants in the subsurface including landfill gas and leachate, chlorinated solvents and PFAS compounds.
